On July 28th, British police arrested a man in front of his house for posting this image on Facebook. The meme depicts the rainbow colors associated with the LGTB community as a swastika. His arrest, obviously, is a flagrant violation of the freedom of speech, especially since he didn’t violate any law. The judge in the case referred to George Orwell’s classic ‘Animal Farm’ to denounce this police action.
Some people might say:’” Of course he should be arrested. This meme is harassment, it is hate speech!”
No, it’s not.
I understand why someone might post this. For me, the meme is not anti-trans or gay people. It denounces the Totalitarian undercurrent in the LGBT movement. Funny enough, the police reaction to the meme proves the point it wants to make.
Of course, I support everyone’s right to live their life as they want, free from violence or harassment.
If you are a woman and like to make love to a woman, or as a man want to walk around in women’s clothes and be called Patricia: go for it. I have been known to walk around in a skirt myself once in a while.
In the Netherlands, nobody has been arrested for a meme (yet).
But this ideology is making inroads here as well. Some examples from my town:
A bicycle path colored in the colors of the rainbow flag,
..and the footpath in a museum garden painted in LGTB colors.
There are countless other public displays like this.
If I see this, my reaction is: ”Fuck off with your LGTB bullshit! Just live the way you want, but don’t shove it down my throat.” Actually, on me it has the opposite effect as intended: I begin to dislike this philosophy and through that, LGTB people, unfair as that is.
If you impose an ideology on everyone by all kinds of public displays (paid for by the taxpayer btw) I call it Totalitarian.
If a movement excludes other ideas and opinions and condemns and arrests people for criticizing its ideology, I call it Totalitarian.
If a movement exerts its influence to make announcers in trains not say “Ladies and gentlemen” anymore, I call it Totalitarian. Since 2017 they have to say “Travelers” now to not exclude trans people.
Only recently, I found out that in the Netherlands, a man who says he is a woman, although he has a penis, is legally considered to be a woman. The same the other around. This is crazy. Biological reality is denied by a vote in parliament. The meaning of the word woman is changed by government fiat. If a movement uses the power of the State to redefine the meaning of a word, I call it Totalitarian.
When it walks like a duck and quaks like a duck, chances are it is a duck.
When a movement acts Totalitarian and talks Totalitarian, it probably is Totalitarian.
I hope you guys will come visit me in jail.
