Exploding Tree
Nahari Obewassa- Jones1, the 23rd-century art historian, wrote about this drawing: “This piece shows a typical city-scape from Terra, as it was before the ecological collapse of the 22nd century. Often, the art of Henk Bruinsma (1962-2074) from this period combines two styles. This drawing, “Exploding Tree” from 2017, is an example. On the one hand, the artist uses smudges and scratches to express the natural origin of the tree: it has grown spontaneously. He uses a more conventional style when drawing houses, cars, and bicycles2, reflecting their human origin.”
